Currently I am working on a project which involves measurement of torque of a vertical axis wind turbine. This project requires measurement of torque while the turbine is moving. The aim to measure torque is to calculate the size of the generator for a particular RPM.
This is the first time I am using torque measurement sensor. Then I came to know how sensitive this measurement is. Although there is various technology for torque measurement, but strain gauge technology is very popular. The deformation in strain gauge is used to measure torque. There are two type of torque measurement. One is Dynamic or Rotary Torque sensor and other is not-contacting.
I am using Rotary torque sensor to measure the torque of turbine and its RPM also. for RPM I am using proximity sensor.
